Entry-Level Field Service/Calibration Technician

Job Summary:

Training/working directly under senior field technician either in-house or at remote job sites in performing setup/installation, repair, or calibrations of construction material testing equipment. Mostly local work but may require overnight or extended travel (typically no more than 5 days). Full training provided.

Entry-level, full-time training/introductory position
Shift: typically 8:00am-4:30 M-F, paid overtime when necessary
Training position expected to last approximately 1 year, shadowing, assisting, and training by Senior field technician based out of our Colorado or Texas location

Requirements:

  • HS diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent education
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software
  • Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude highly recommended: soldering; use of multimeters/oscilloscopes; ability to disassemble/reassemble parts; reading schematics/wiring diagrams; and understanding technical documents such as AASHTO and ASTM standards.
  • Ability to lift 75‑120 lbs.
  • Willingness to work with low-level, sealed, radioactive materials. (Safety training, certification, and exposure monitoring provided.)
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record and reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel overnight or extended lengths (2-7 days) and/or out of state necessary
  • Non-Compete required
  • Capable of following technical procedures
  • Willingness to attend additional training as required and offered.
  • Self-motivated, independent worker.

Applicant will be trained in the following:

Primary Job Functions: (Field Service)

  • Maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and calibration of client equipment at client locations.
  • Generating service orders and calibration reports on equipment worked on.
  • Equipment serviced: field and laboratory scales; ignition furnaces; compression machines; gyratory compactors; convection ovens, incubators, and cure tanks; calipers, dial indicators, and other assorted measurement tools.
  • When available, receive factory training on serviced equipment.
  • Maintaining company supplied tools and calibration equipment

Secondary Job Functions: (In House Services)

  • In-house servicing of moisture/density nuclear gauges.
  • Checking in, leak testing, cleaning, maintaining, and performing electronic checkups on all incoming equipment.
  • Performing calibrations on equipment, generating report packets, and preparing shipping containers for pickup.
  • Processing service orders for billing in a timely manner.
  • Providing technical support for equipment over the phone/internet when needed.

Full-Time Benefits (After 90 Days of Employment)
